This is the thirteenth running of the hugely successful HotVWs Drag Day series. Rich Kimball and his crew outdid themselves once again, with a big turnout of cars and spectators. One of the featured race classes was the Powder Puff class, with Dee Berg in her split window, and Candy Larsen, the wife of famed chassis builder Jimmy Larsen. Candy used to pilot a right-hand drive PRA Super Street Karmann Ghia back in the ‘90’s. The competitor with the most current seat time in a race car was E-girl, so there was no shortage of qualified drivers in this class! You’ll see lots of burnouts, with Crazy Joe in his Goldmine VW Parts Ghia burning it down, then banging through the gears in fine style! Eventually he was matched up with veteran driver Clyde Berg, in one of the epic battles of the day. One of the highlights of the day was Doug Harvey, making the debut of his rear-wheel-drive new Beetle. People are still asking about the “P\M” letters on the side of the car!
